⚠ Reality Check—Read Before You Dive
Electromechanical devices can—and eventually will—fail.1 Even after exhaustive testing, undiscovered bugs remain and hardware can quit at the worst moment. Treat the Excursion (or any computer) as one source of information—always dive with tables, a second computer, or both.

If you push the limits—decompression, mixed gas, CCR—obtain formal training first and build up experience incrementally. Know exactly how you’ll respond if a display freezes, reboots, or shows numbers you don’t trust. No gadget keeps you alive; knowledge, skill, and rehearsed procedures, plus the willingness to call the dive, are your real safety net.

Stable Release vs Beta Firmware
Recreational Firmware
(default, pre-installed) – Single-gas Nitrox ≤ 40 %, NDL planner, Apnea & Gauge modes. Proven on tens of thousands of dives.
Tech / Multi-gas Beta
(optional free download) – Up to 11 gases, Trimix, CCR, advanced GF tools. Still under active development; expect occasional quirks and update cycles. Install only if you’re comfortable with beta software and have a backup computer.

Data Logging & Apps
Deep 6 does not publish its own mobile app. Instead, we contribute our log format to the open-source libdivecomputer project—the backbone used by most independent desktop and mobile loggers.

Choose the app that suits you.
Each third-party developer controls their own release cycle; please contact them directly for support.
Why this route? By focusing engineering time on dive algorithms and firmware—and leaving UI design to specialized logbook developers—we keep the computer affordable and avoid locking you into one ecosystem.

Who Is the Excursion For?
Recreational divers seeking an affordable, Nitrox-capable computer with a large, glove-friendly display.
Tech divers & instructors who want a robust backup or low-cost entry into Trimix/CCR (via Beta firmware).
Apnea enthusiasts who appreciate an apnea-dedicated mode and ~20 h rechargeable battery life.
